Implant Retained Dentures
Implant retained dentures are BPS® dentures that are secured onto permanent dental implants in the gum. Dental implants can offer the necessary stability and retention for anchoring a removable denture either full or partial.
The denture stays firmly in place while chewing and conversing, but can be removed for cleaning. Three or four conventional dental implants stabilise a full lower denture which allows freedom to eat whatever you like with the confidence that the dentures won’t move in your mouth.
For full upper dentures, four or five conventional dental implants stabilise a full upper denture, eliminating the need for a full plate. Patients report greater taste and smell of food, comfortability and ease of swallowing. It is also a possible solution for patients with a gag reflex.
Historically, dental implants have a high clinical success rate and patients who have opted for dental implants, often remark how similar it feels to their own natural teeth.
Ask your dental prosthetist about how implant retained dentures might be the right solution for you.
